London Global Education (LGE) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of East Anglia (UEA), signalling a shared commitment to expanding access to British higher education for students in China and beyond.
The partnership will create dedicated progression routes for students completing LGE’s Level 3 International Foundation Programme (IFP), enabling them to seamlessly transition to undergraduate study at UEA; a university renowned for its research excellence, student experience, and global outlook.
This collaboration comes at a time when Transnational Education (TNE) is experiencing unprecedented growth. According to recent HESA data, the number of students studying for UK qualifications outside the UK grew from 433,170 in 2019-20 to 576,705 in 2022-23. Experts, including LGE’s UK Partnership Director, Dave Amor, predict TNE enrolments will soon outnumber international students studying on UK campuses.
“This partnership reflects a changing landscape in global education,” said Mr. Qi Liu, CEO of LGE. “More students are seeking high-quality British education delivered closer to home with the same academic rigour, but greater affordability and flexibility. Our collaboration with UEA will provide exactly that: a pathway for students to access world-class education without compromise.”
For UEA, the partnership is part of a broader strategy to diversify international recruitment and expand its footprint.
“UEA is delighted to be accepting students from the London Global International Foundation Programme,” said Tim Hubbard, UEA’s Head of East Asia Recruitment and Partnerships. “UEA has supported countless students from China in achieving their educational and career goals. Our partnership with LGE allows us to further connect with talented students in China, and I can’t wait to welcome them to our campus.”
LGE’s International Foundation Programme has been developed by British and British-educated academics, integrating active learning and real-world skills development — addressing a growing demand for education that goes beyond traditional exam-based learning.
With projections suggesting LGE’s student enrolment will grow tenfold by 2028, this partnership positions both organisations at the forefront of a fast-evolving global education sector.
“There is more to this partnership than just a recruitment agreement,” added LGE’s Academic Director, Richard Mann. “It’s a collaboration grounded in shared educational values, nurturing future-ready talents to thrive in an interconnected world.”
